Reasons to give

Find out more about why the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art needs your support and what funding areas are a priority now:

Staff endowments

Highly dedicated staff members enable Beach Museum of Art to be a leader in the collection, research and presentation of regional art. The staff is the backbone for museum activities that engage the community, enrich the intellectual life of campus, and enhance the leadership capacity of Kansas State University. Many of the museum's staff salaries are currently below regional averages and need to increase to ensure the attraction and retention of highly skilled professionals.Endowment funding would allow the museum to increase staff compensation and remain competitive with other university art museums. It would also support the employment of students and recent K-State graduates, integrating museum experience and job skills into pre-professional and early career activities.

Program development

The Beach Museum of Art is the only accredited museum with a collecting focus on the art of Kansas and the region. This focus includes the historic and current art of Kansas, but temporary exhibitions and programs extend that focus to find relationships with the art and culture of other times and other places. The museum presents a broad range of opportunities to experience art, but funding is needed to sustain and increase those opportunities for the campus, community and region.

Excellence funds

Excellence funding allows the museum to support the areas where there is greatest need or unexpected expenses. Currently, there is a need for increased technology to enhance visitor experiences. The museum wishes to present opportunities to engage and interact with art and artists through multiple media. This could include interactive touch screen displays, teleconferenced workshops and seminars, and much more. With the ability of modern technology to enhance the sensory experience, possibilities are endless to supplement the way people perceive and understand the world through art.
